Our second signature build — currently under construction. Named after Captiva Island, the wilder, more remote sister to Sanibel.
The Captiva was designed around a fixed bed. We use Vanspeed capsule modules to mount a true queen-size bed running sideways across the van. Because the bed doesn't need the full length of the floor, it frees up an extra 20 inches of usable living space in front of it — space that goes toward a bigger kitchen, more storage, and a better layout overall.
If you want to wake up and walk straight to the kitchen without folding anything down first, this is your build.
Two different answers to the same question: how do you want to live in your van?
The Captiva has a permanent queen bed — always made, always ready. The Sanibel's dinette converts into a king bed in minutes. If you hate setting up to sleep every night, go Captiva. If you want a social space that doubles as a bedroom, go Sanibel.
The Captiva wins on garage storage — you've got serious under-bed space accessible from the rear, great for bikes, gear, or anything bulky. The Sanibel trades some of that for more flexible multipurpose living space.
The Sanibel has larger side windows and more natural light. The Captiva's Vanspeed capsule system limits window size — it's a trade-off for the permanent bed setup. The Sanibel also has two upper cabinets vs. one on the Captiva, because the elevated fixed bed requires the driver-side upper area to stay clear for headroom.
On the Captiva, the toilet lives on 500 lb drawer slides under the 3rd seat and rolls directly into the shower when you want to use it. On the Sanibel, the toilet sits in the shower and you pick it up and move it to the hallway before showering.
The Captiva has a 3rd seat behind the driver, and both the driver and passenger seats swivel. The Sanibel has a U-shaped dinette that seats 5 around a table — only the passenger seat swivels.
Regardless of which floorplan you choose, your finishes are 100% yours — cabinet style, color, tile, countertops, hardware, flooring. The Sanibel was done in shaker cabinets. The Captiva features slab doors. Yours can look entirely different.
